Education leaders meet to discuss school system’s budget
JACKSON, Tenn.-Madison County’s education vision committee met Tuesday night to discuss the school system’s budget just days before commissioners are set to vote on it.
School board chairman Jim Campbell told the committee he would recommend rethinking the school system’s five-year plan and bringing in professional consultants. It is a suggestion that commissioners said needs to be put into action.
“Feels like there needs to be a more professional, comprehensive five-year plan. By doing that, we’ll have a good understanding of what needs to be done and when during the next five years,” said Gerry Neese, chairman of the education vision committee.
The current five-year plan suggests $5.9 million of capital projects be funded in the next fiscal year. The education vision committee cannot vote on items, but only make suggestions.
