Christian group fixing up West Virginia homes
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) – A Christian group is fixing up homes in West Virginia this week.
The city of Huntington says in a news release that Nashville-based World Changers is providing 210 students and 13 adult supervisors from eight states for the project. They’re painting, installing windows, and repairing roofs, porches and decks on 12 homes in Huntington and one in Milton.
The homeowners who met income guidelines applied for the program through the city of Huntington’s Department of Planning and Development.
A federal community development block grant covers the cost of materials. World Changers provided the labor free of charge.
A block party for World Changers participants and community members is set for Wednesday at the A.D. Lewis Community Center in Huntington.
