Chief: 18-wheeler snags power lines, brings down 5 poles
BRANDON, Miss. (AP) – Hundreds of Brandon residents were left without power after officials say an 18-wheeler snagged a power line, bringing down several power poles.
Media outlets report Brandon Police Chief William Thompson says the incident happened just before 5 p.m. Thursday near Shiloh Road and Shiloh Parkway. WLBT-TV reports the power outage affected more than 400 people.
Thompson says the truck driver was unaware he snagged a line and kept driving, pulling down at least five poles.
Entergy utility company told WJTV-TV that a transformer also fell on the cab of the 18-wheeler. The driver was able to safety exit the truck.
Shiloh Road remained closed as crews worked to repair the power poles and downed lines.
Entergy said it expected the power to be completely restored by midnight Friday.
