Man, woman identified in possible murder-suicide
VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) – Warren County authorities have identified the husband and wife found dead in their home from an apparent murder-suicide.
Sheriff Martin Pace tells The Vicksburg Post that deputies responded to an 8:40 p.m. call Saturday of two people being shot. They found 46-year-old Edward Vaughn and 35-year-old Surrenda Davis dead in the bedroom of their home. Pace says both people were suffering from gunshot wounds to the head.
Deputy Coroner Kelda Bailess pronounced them dead at the scene. The bodies were taken to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for autopsies.
Pace says a small caliber handgun was recovered at the scene.
Davis was a seventh-grade science teacher at the Vicksburg Warren School District’s Academy of Innovation. The couple had four children, ranging in age from 2 to 17.
