Young girl on bike injured when hit by car, driver not cited

JACKSON, Tenn. — A scare in east Jackson, Thursday evening, as a young girl was hit by a vehicle while riding her bicycle.

Police said the collision happened around 7 p.m. at the intersection of North Royal Street and Bishop Street.  Officers said the 60-year-old female driver was going through a green light when the 12-year-old girl rode in front of her.

Despite a bent bike and a few bumps and bruises, officers said the child was able to walk away.

Officials said the driver will not be cited because she had the green light.
