A new festival debuts in the Hub City
JACKSON, Tenn.—Hub City Film Festival celebrates local filmmakers and community connectivity.
Jackson’s vibrant film community came alive at The Ned on Saturday, as the first ever Hub City Film Festival began day one of their weekend-long fest showcasing an array of remarkable works by local filmmakers.
This festival aimed to promote connectivity, while celebrating the art of filmmaking.
“We have so many films represented here. We have a great attendance going on. The best part about it, is these are all local artists, local filmmakers who are represented on The Ned’s screen,” said David McCall, Executive Director of The Ned.
With the festival’s great lineups and seminars, the festival proved to be a valuable platform for aspiring filmmakers and enthusiasts alike.
Some of the films included short films, short documentaries, feature films, feature length documentaries, music videos, and more.
Local filmmaker, Randall Kendrck was excited to debut his documentary at this festival.
“I have a personal attachment to this theater. This theater is where I, sort of, discovered my love for being involved in creative productions. I did plays here when I was in school at this theater. So, it meant a lot to me to have the first public screening of my documentary be in this theater,” Kendrck said.
McCall says that his favorite part about the festival so far is, people coming up to him saying how much they have enjoyed it, and that usually they have to travel a long distance to enjoy film festivals like this.
“I’m so excited and I’m so honored by the opportunity to have my film screened, but then also help out behind the scenes. This event has been so wonderfully put together and it’s being executed flawlessly,” said Rachel Camp, Sponsor liaison and filmmaker.
Day two of the festival begins Sunday at 10 a.m.
