Noodling tournament raises money for underprivileged children

SELMER, Tenn. — The Freedom Outdoors Organization hosted a noodling competition in Selmer on Saturday.

The organization takes underprivileged kids outside and shows them how to hunt and fish. Proceeds from Saturday’s event benefit the group.

Organizers said this year they had the opportunity to give back to a young boy who is currently in remission from cancer. “He’s never been hunting, he’s never been fishing he’s never been anywhere,” Freedom Outdoors Founder Coty Taylor said. “This year he killed ducks, deer and turkeys. He’s done everything he’s ever wanted to do and it’s not over with. He’s still going to do it.”

Saturday’s event also featured a cornhole tournament, a hush-puppy eating contest, and a lawnmower tractor pull contest.
