Costumed fans line up for Mississippi Comic Con event
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – Mississippi comic book, movie and science fiction fans lined up for the state’s third Comic Con event.
The Clarion-Ledger reports Sunday that this year’s event sold three times as many tickets as last year.
Patrons waited in line for 30-45 minutes to get inside Saturday.
Greg Hands co-owns AVC Conventions which organized the event. He said three people waiting to get in Saturday passed out because it was so hot. Medics handed out water to those in line.
The two-day event continued Sunday.
Ernie Hudson who played Winston Zeddermore in the original Ghostbusters series was on hand to talk to fans.
He said the stars from the original series including himself, Dan Akroyd and Bill Murray will have cameo roles in the female-led remake that comes out July 15.
