Accused gunman charged with murder in Haywood Co. party shooting

HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. — A man accused of pulling the trigger in a shooting that left a young woman dead and injured two others has been charged with murder.

Quin Love, 18, of Brownsville, was arrested Sunday.

Love is now facing charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and reckless endangerment in the shooting that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning in rural Haywood County, according to court documents.

The charging documents say Love fired 10 rounds from a .40-caliber handgun into a crowd of people during a party in the 3000 block of Rice Road east of Brownsville.

Love is accused of shooting Jonathan Davis in the back as Davis tried to break up a fight, according to an affidavit.

At least three rounds penetrated the home and hit at least two people inside, the document states.

Davis was being driven by two friends to a hospital when the vehicle they were traveling in crashed along Interstate 40, according to the sheriff’s office. Because of the crash, Davis and his two friends were transported to the hospital by EMS, officials said.

Deputies say a third victim was treated for a gunshot wound to his lower right leg.

Love is being held without bond. He is set to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. July 12.
