Man jailed, charged with stealing woman’s dog

JACKSON, Tenn. — An unusual case of theft goes before the judge in Jackson City Court, Monday morning.

According to court papers, on June 18, Keith Barnett stole a woman’s dog and kicked it.  He faces a count of theft under $500.

In the affidavit, the victim told police when she didn’t open the door to her home on Robin Lane when Barnett knocked, he went into her backyard and took her white pitbull from its leash.  She said he led the dog by its collar a couple of blocks.  That’s when she said she witnesses Barnett kicking the dog.  Her pet was able to get away and run back home.
