Fire crews battle blaze at human resource agency building in Brownsville

BROWNSVILLE, Tenn.-Firefighters were called to the scene of a fire Wednesday night in at the Southwest Human Resource Agency building in Brownsville.

Early reports indicate the fire department was alerted after someone reported seeing smoke coming from the building, located in the 100 block of South Wilson Avenue around 7:50 p.m.

Fire officials on the scene told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News the building also houses the TN Career Center and the Salvation Army. Investigators said the fire started in TN Career Center, which had fire and smoke damage while the Southwest Human Resource Agency and the Salvation Army had smoke damage.

Fire crews were able to bring the fire under control an hour later.

No word on what may have sparked the fire or if there were any injuries.
