McComb schools seek to add more teachers

MCCOMB, Miss. (AP) – The McComb School District is seeking qualified teachers for its schools.

The McComb Enterprise-Journal reports that the school district currently has slots available for math, science and special education teachers.

Jonathan McLendon, the district’s personnel director and energetic recruiter, says he is searching for teachers across the state and beyond its borders. He says there is a shortage of applicants and the district has to compete with about 100 school systems.

McLendon says he has been using the community of McComb as a selling point to potential teachers, adding that the connection between schools and the community is an important factor for recruiting new teachers.

McLendon also says he is searching for candidates who can communicate effectively and are a good fit for students.
