4th of July weekend events across West Tennessee

JACKSON, Tenn. — As many are preparing to go into a long holiday weekend, there are events all across West Tennessee.

pic-4thofjulycalendar-jpg_bim.jpgIf you need a good history lesson, you can head down to Shiloh National Military Park on Monday for cannon firing demonstrations. The park will also host a concert Saturday night with blues music.

Union City will also be listening to live music, tapping to the tune of their Southern Nights event to be held along with food, drinks and games. Admission into the park is $10 this weekend and free after 5 o’clock on July 4.

If you’re wanting a weekend on the water, head to Beech Lake in Lexington. Starting Saturday, the Festival of the Lakes begins its three-day event, including water races, pageants and live music. This event is free to the public.

In the Hub City, the Madison County Fire Department is hosting its 3rd Firefighters Freedom Festival at McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport. Officials are expecting more than 10,000 people to be at the event, and they plan to wrap up the night with a 30-minute fireworks show.

You can also head out to the Ballpark at Jackson to check out the Jackson Generals all weekend. Saturday and Sunday, the games will be followed with fireworks.
