George Markos tennis challenge

JACKSON, Tenn — This week I decided to hit the tennis courts to challenge the undefeated state champion, George Markos. In his time at USJ he won three individual state titles and one team title his senior year.

Markos first picked up a tennis racket at the age of five and he knew at a early age he wanted to play in college. At eight years old he partnered with one of his tennis coaches, Ted Measley who also says he knew Markos was going to be special.

“He was playing tournaments from like 8 to 12 and he was the top in the south at that point, it was very simple to read that progression,” Measley said.

We faced off in a best of three series, but there was no need for that third game.
