McKenzie Mayor, board of alderman approve new budget
McKENZIE, Tenn.-The McKenzie mayor and board of alderman gathered Thursday to approve next year’s budget.
The board passed a balanced budget, coming in at around $6.9-million. The city had more sales tax revenue than expected, so no taxes were increased. Full-time city employees were also granted a small raise. The mayor said it is all thanks to cutting costs.
“It was hard work and we redid some contracts we looked at any type of waste that we could have, we’re raising our temperatures in our buildings,” said McKenzie Mayor Jill Holland.
The group also announced a $940,000 grant from TDOT, which will be used to add new sidewalks in the downtown area.
