Fourth of July parade celebrations

Screen Shot 2016-07-04 at 10.47.21 PMMCLEMORESVILLE, Tenn– Among the fourth of July fun communities across west Tennessee celebrated with annual parades.

Doesn’t matter the age or where you are people all over agreed they were excited about the fireworks.

The city of McLemoresville celebrated their annual 4th of July parade, a nearly 40 year tradition.

Parade participant, Leah Cherry explained why she is so excited for the parade.

“Because this is my first time doing it” Leah said.

Mayor Phil Williams, who’ s also a military veteran,  reflected on what Independence day means for him.

“I think remembering what we went through to get here remembering this is our nation’s birthday and remembering that our veterans have fought very very hard and still do to keep this flag free and keep America the great country that it is” Williams said.

A few miles away in  McKenzie the freedom festival was their event of the day. Even though the rain came down it didn’t stop their shine.

Parade Attendee, Micheal Pershell said “the few of us that live in McKenzie were loyal and we want to come out and support our city so it was fun it just means more candy for the children.”

McLemoresville’s Mayor Phil Williams said the proceeds from other events, like the cake walk, will go to their fire department.
