Newsom enters plea in connection to 2015 murder

JACKSON, Tenn.-A guilty plea was made Tuesday in connection with a 2015 murder in west Jackson.

According to the DA’s office, Leslie Newsom pleaded guilty to two counts of filing a false police report and one count of aggravated perjury in the murder of James Roberson on Woodberry Cove.

She was sentenced to 60 days in jail and the rest of her 3-year sentence will be on intense probation. The judge denied her request to have her conviction eventually expunged.

In April, Jeremy Echols pleaded guilty to the shooting.
