Bolivar man charged in 2014 car theft

CHESTER COUNTY, Tenn. — A Bolivar man was arrested Tuesday on charges stemming from a 2014 car theft in Henderson.

Anthony Brooks, 21, is charged with stealing a car from a woman in Henderson in July 2014. He was arrested Tuesday in Hardeman County.

According to a report from the Henderson Police Department, the woman found the keys to her white 2005 Toyota Camry missing from her key ring the morning after Brooks stayed the night with her son at her residence.

Two days after she reported the theft, the woman told police that Brooks contacted her on Facebook and told her he would return her car.

The vehicle was recovered July 30, 2014, in Hardeman County, according to the report. Police say the hood had been painted a different color and the tags had been changed.

Police also have Facebook messages in which Brooks admits to taking the vehicle, according to the report.

Brooks is charged with theft over $1,000 and tampering with evidence. His bond is set at $25,000.
