Bond set at $1M for suspect in Hattiesburg murder case
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) – Bond has been set at $1 million for 25-year-old Taiwan Jermaine Blakely, of Hattiesburg, charged with murder in a weekend slaying.
Twenty-six-year-old Loretta Dewberry was found shot in her truck Saturday night at a Hattiesburg apartment complex.
The Hattiesburg American reports Blakely made his initial court appearance Monday at Hattiesburg Municipal Court.
Judge Jerry Evans set Blakely’s preliminary hearing date for Friday.
Blakely turned himself in at the Forrest County Jail on Sunday after learning there was a warrant for his arrest.
Hattiesburg police spokesman Lt. Jon Traxler says the motive for the homicide has not yet been established.
