Donations given out to four local schools

JACKSON, Tenn — Hamilton Hills shopping center recently donated $1,000 to four schools for the upcoming football seasons.

“We wanted to help out the local high schools in some way and knew that often times athletic programs can be overlooked,” said Brandon Buchanan, from Buchanan Reality Group.

The schools who received the gift are, North Side High, South Side High, Liberty Tech and Madison Academic.

At North Side, they used the money to buy new black jerseys for the upcoming season.

“This gift came at the perfect time,” said Donnie Nickey, head coach for North Side. “It will mean we can finish ordering the jerseys we need without having to take funds from another aspects of the program.”

For South Side, they used their money to purchase a small concession like trailer that will haul around school gear to each of the school’s sporting events to sell. They will sell items like shirts, hoodies, hats and stadium seats.

Liberty Tech put their money towards new equipment for the players it recently took in from JCM. “We have absorbed many of the players displaced from JCM and needed to purchase more equipment for the team,” said James Turner, head coach for Liberty Tech. “This gift will be put to good use and very quickly.”

Hamilton Hills also donated money to Madison Academic High School, but since they do not have a football team, the donation will be towards the classrooms.  “I would like to use it on things teachers might need in the classroom for next year,” said Chad Guthrie, principal at Madison Academic.

The Hamilton Hills shopping center is located at 581 Old hickory Blvd in Jackson.
