McNairy County hopes hashtag brings in revenue
JACKSON, Tenn. — McNairy County is working toward a social media trend, hoping to attract a crowd not only online but in its stores and restaurants.
“Over the course of a year, a community like McNairy County will see tens of millions of dollars in leakage, what we call in the industry, going out to our neighboring counties and neighboring states, and a lot of times those goods can be provided here in McNairy County,” Eddie Crittendon said with the McNairy County Chamber.
Crittendon hopes the #ShopMcNairy contest will do just that and show patrons they can purchase locally.
Participating in this contest is pretty simple. All you have to do is find a favorite establishment and take a picture from that location. And, of course, don’t forget to hashtag it on social media with #ShopMcNairy.
“Post it on our Facebook page, McNairy Chamber of Commerce, and there are gift cards, $300 worth of local merchants in McNairy County,” Crittendon said.
The contest runs until Aug. 1.
