Louisiana girl drowns in pool in Mississippi
BOGUE CHITTO, Miss. (AP) – A 2-year-old girl from Louisiana has drowned in a pool in Mississippi.
Lincoln County Deputy Coroner John Riggs tells local news outlets that the 2-year-old died Tuesday night in Bogue Chitto.
Chief Deputy Johnny Hall says the child had climbed the ladder of an above-ground pool and fell inside. Her family went looking for her and found her unresponsive in the pool.
First responders arrived at scene and performed CPR on the child. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy was performed Wednesday and the results are pending.
The incident is being investigated as an accidental drowning.
The girl’s family is from Louisiana and was visiting family in Bogue Chitto at the time.
