Juvenile runaway from Humboldt arrested for unlawful weapon possession

DYERSBURG, Tenn. — Authorities have arrested a juvenile in West Tennessee for unlawful weapon possession.

According to the Dyersburg Police Department, around 5 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to Perry Vincent Apartments at 605 Lake Road, in reference to a report of multiple individuals in the parking lot “flashing a firearm” as vehicles drove by.

Upon arrival, police say that officers observed several individuals standing around a car.

According to Dyersburg Police, one person sitting in the car was uncooperative, and was observed to have an extended magazine protruding from under his shirt. Police say that officers retrieved a loaded rifle with a cutoff stock and an extended magazine inside the person’s waistband.

Police identified the individual as a 17-year-old runaway from Humboldt.

According to police, the juvenile was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm, and resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest or search.

Police say that the Dyer County Juvenile Court Services ordered the juvenile to be held at the McDowell Center Detention Center pending a Juvenile Court hearing.

As the individual is a minor, authorities have not confirmed the identity of the suspect.
