Union City police charge 2 young boys in church shed fire
UNION CITY, Tenn. — Police have arrested two young boys on charges of reckless burning after a fire destroyed a shed outside a local church.
Officers say two juveniles, ages 6 and 11, admitted to being in the shed behind Sunswept Baptist Church, located on North Sunswept Drive, on July 6 and that one of them later admitted to setting a box on fire inside the building.
An insurance adjuster told police the shed is a total loss and would cost around $60,000 to rebuild. The church had the building insured for $25,000, according to the report.
The pair must now appear in juvenile court.
