JACKSON, Tenn- A one-year old is still in the hospital after being critically shot; and the man who was accused of firing the gun is now facing the biggest charges on his record. According to police, Antonio “Tony” Byrd, has a criminal past of domestic assault; but now faces attempted second-degree murder, reckless endangerment, and tampering with evidence charges. Investigators said he allegedly fired a shot after a dispute with residents at The Villages Apartments on Old Hickory Boulevard, Monday night that hit a baby in the head. Police said the bullet ricocheted off a door-frame causing the child to get hit. “He may not have been trying to hit the baby, but he has to turn himself in or whatever,” said a resident, who knows the Byrd family. Police are still investigating the cause of the dispute that led to the shooting; but do not believe the mother, who was holding the baby at the time, was involved.
