Lexington football strives for more in new season
LEXINGTON, Tenn — With a Class 4A quarterfinal appearance under their belt from 2015, the Lexington Tigers have their sights set on more with the new season.
Returning 12 starters from last season’s team, coaches think the progress made with their current players started months ago.
“Really got to work your kids in the off-season,” Lexington head football coach, Bryant Hollingsworth explained. “They have to see success in the off-season and that helps build confidence where they feel like they can go out and work to be as good or better than the team who left before.”
Lexington hosted Dyersburg and Stewart county in a triangle scrimmage Friday afternoon.
Players said being able to get back on the field makes them want to get to the next level that much more.
“I mean we want to get there again, but we don’t just want to get there, we want to get all the way,” Lexington senior linebacker, Jordan Taylor said. “It makes us want to work twice as hard each day and three times harder the next day.”
Lexington opens their 2016 season with Riverside in Week 1.
