Memphis crash victim’s family sues city over investigation

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – The family of an 80-year-old woman who died in a crash last year has accused Memphis police and firefighters of negligence in their handling of the accident.

The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/2aJL9ZA ) reports that the lawsuit was filed in federal court against the city by the six children of Lucille Grose.

The lawsuit says Grose died after being hit by a car on July 18, 2015. The other driver did not receive a ticket.

The family says investigators did not perform a field sobriety test on the other driver, even though one witness said the driver had been reckless.

The lawsuit says a witness recorded the crash on a cellphone, but the footage was not part of the investigation report.

The city did not respond to the newspaper’s request for comment.
