Elderly Man Improving After Getting Caught in Field Fire

CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn.- WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News has an update on the elderly man pulled from his burning truck Thursday in Crockett County. According to a hospital spokesperson, Thomas Archer, 80, has been upgraded to fair condition. Investigators said his controlled burn of a field near Bells got out of hand and flames encircled him after he crashed his truck into a ravine. Deputy Sergeant Robert Howell saw he was in trouble and risked his own life to pull him from the burning truck. Archer suffered a broken leg and some burns.
