First responders fight field fire in Crockett County

CROCKETT COUNTY, Tenn. — Fire fighters were called out to Crockett County Thursday over a field fire.

The fire near Simmons Road and Highway 79 first began around 2:30 p.m., with it being contained around 4:50 p.m., according to the Crockett County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire caused a large amount smoke to fill the air, and left much of the fields burned.

The Crockett County Sheriff’s Office says more details will be released later.

Everyone is being asked to refrain from burning until conditions are less dry.
