Accident along 45 Bypass leads to overturned vehicle

JACKSON, Tenn.—An accident occurred on the 45 Bypass and Channing way intersection near Slim Chickens this afternoon.

The accident involving two cars took place around 1:30 this afternoon.

A vehicle could be seen flipped upside down.

The Jackson Police Department and EMS were visible on the scene.

At this time, there are no critical injuries to report.

However, two southbound lanes were closed due to the accident and power outages were reported in nearby neighborhoods.

Those power outages also affected the red light at the intersection.

The Jackson Police Department took to social media and shared some tips for when traffic lights do not work.

The first vehicle to arrive at the intersection, takes the right of way and always yields to the right. Straight traffic takes the right of way over turning traffic, and right turns take the right of way over left turns.

Power has since been reinstated to the affected areas.
