Jackson students pay tribute to veterans at Rotary Club meeting

JACKSON, Tenn. — The Old Hickory Rotary Club met at the DoubleTree Monday afternoon.

This was a special joint event by the North Side Lions Club and the Rotary Club to honor the U.S. Veterans.

Recognition was paid to those who served with a moment of silence.

Thelma Barker’s 3rd-5th Grade choir also performed to pay special tribute.

The Junior ROTC paid tribute as well, as they raised their flags and marched in honor of those that lost their life in the line of duty, as well as those that are still active.

“Today is about the veterans that are amongst us, and we want to inspire young men and women to join the service and so that eventually, they become veterans themselves,” said Doug Englen, Ret. Chief Warrant Officer 5, U.S. Army.

Parents of the Thelma Barker students came out for support.

Lunch was provided to all that were present.
