Record Highs Monday, Few More Warm Days Coming!

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

WBBJ 7 Forecast Update:

An early November heat wave is impacting West Tennessee and will continue for a couple more days. We officially hit 81° today in Jackson out at the airport. That beat the previous record by 3°. Record highs could be in jeopardy the next 2 days as well. A cold front is on the way later in the week and will bring a good shot for some rain showers. But will it bring any storms? Catch the latest on the heat, rain chances, and your weekend forecast coming up right here.

The rain deficit continues to get worse across the Mid South and West Tennessee as most of our viewing area is under an extreme or severe drought. There is some rain in the forecast, it just won’t be here tomorrow.

TONIGHT:

Temperatures tonight are expected to stay well above normal with most of us falling down to the mid to upper 50s. The skies will remain mostly clear overnight although there will be a few clouds. The winds will stay light and come out of the southwest helping to keep temperatures up overnight as well. Rain is not in the forecast tonight but will look to return by the end of the work week.

TUESDAY:

We could see setting a record for the 2nd day in a row on Tuesday. The high temperature record is 81° set back in 2005. The forecast in Jackson is for the low 80s so it is going to be close either way. We should see plenty of sunshine again on Tuesday with some afternoon clouds. The winds will continue to come out of the southwest and it will be breezy at times around 10-15 MPH. Temperatures will remain warm overnight with Wednesday morning lows only falling down to the low 60s.

WEDNESDAY:

The warmest day of the week and this current heat spell looks to be on Wednesday. Highs will reach the low 80s and some mid 80s cannot be ruled out either. The record on Wednesday is 84°, set again back in 2005. We are going to be very close for the 3rd day in a row in Jackson. We will see a few more clouds towards the back half of the day on Wednesday and just like Tuesday, it will be breezy at times with the winds coming in out of the southwest. Wednesday night lows will only fall down to the mid 60s. The next front is going to get closer on Thursday.

THURSDAY:

After several warm and dry days to kick off the work week, changes are expected to return on Thursday. Rain showers will return early in the day and get heavier as the afternoon and evening progress. We are not expecting severe weather or big storms, but a few rumbles of thunder cannot be ruled out. Most of West Tennessee will pick up at least 1/4″ of rain with many locations seeing over 1/2″. Thursday highs will reach up to around 70° and expect mostly cloudy skies and cloudy conditions overnight. The winds will start out of the southwest but shift back to the northwest Thursday night after the front passes. Thursday night lows will dip down to around 50°.

FRIDAY:

Rain showers are likely to continue for the first half of the day on Friday before clearing out sometime into the afternoon. As of now, although the football fields will be wet, it appears the rain will have stopped falling by kickoff for the Friday night playoff games. Highs on Friday will reach the mid 50s and Friday night lows will drop all the way down to around 40°. The clouds may try to clear out Friday evening/night and depending on the amount of clouds, will determine the temperatures for the football games. Winds will come out of the north and be a bit breezy at times as the system clears out.

THE WEEKEND:

Saturday is Veteran’s Day, so please thank a veteran this weekend for all they have sacrificed for us. The weather this weekend looks to be a bit chilly and as of now, we think it is going to be dry. There will be a low pressure system passing just south of us so the rain showers will be close. We will be keeping a close eye on the forecast as the week progresses. Highs this weekend will reach up to around 60° and morning lows will hang around 40°. We are expecting partly cloudy skies and the winds will come out of the northeast most of the weekend as well, helping to keep the temperatures a few degrees below normal.

FINAL THOUGHT:

The first frost and freeze came last week and now we are dealing with record highs. Some cooler weather will look to return for the upcoming weekend. Rain looks to be staying away for the first half of the work week but will look to return for the back half. We really need the rain badly as drought conditions are becoming extreme across most of West Tennessee.
