Election time for Gibson County
GIBSON COUNTY, Tenn.– Tuesday-November 7, 2023- will be the big day that residents of Milan will be able to make their voices heard. Residents are voting for for new aldermen, school board leaders, county clerk, and a mayor for the city of Milan.
There are two contested races on the ballot in Gibson county Tuesday.
In Milan, candidates for the Alderman 1 position, include Bradley Arnold and Michael McAdoo.
For the mayor’s position there are two candidates on the ballot, current mayor of Milan, B.W. Beasley. He hopes to continue the work he’s been doing since becoming Milan mayor.
“I’m really excited about the election we’ve got a lot going on in Milan we’ve got more construction than we’ve ever had in the history of Milan going on and I’m looking forward to keeping all of that going so we need a great turn out,” said Mayor Beasley.
Mayor Beasley, also mentions that the construction is growth for the city. Currently the city is building a new farmers market and other projects.
“We’ve got new activities at our park and we’ve got a substantial amount of new housing that is coming to Milan. Milan is on the move and we’re excited about keeping it going and I’ m asking for everyone to get out and vote,” he said.
Clay McCoy is also running for the mayor position in Milan.
Serving his community is important to him. Currently, McCoy is a Milan Alderman in Ward 1.
“Being mayor of Milan it would be a task it would be very rewarding and I would like to see all four wards of the town flourish and serve every citizen equally,” said McCoy, mayoral candidate.
McCoy says one of his goals is to bring job opportunities to the city.
“We need to build a position to recruit industry and more jobs. We need to be an advocate to promote the small businesses that we have and just focus on the future,” he said.
Polls are open from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. Tuesday.
