Stolen firearm seized during traffic stop arrest in Newbern

NEWBERN, Tenn. — A traffic stop leads to an arrest and seizure of firearms.

According to the Newbern Police Department, an officer conducted a traffic stop on West Main Street on the evening of November 5.

Police say a probable cause search was conducted during the stop, and two handguns were located. Police say that one of the guns had been reported stolen by the Dyersburg Police Department.

According to police, 18-year-old Laderrick Moore, of Newbern, was taken into custody for theft of property under $1,000. Newbern police also shared that the second handgun was seized pending determination of ownership and status.

Police confirm that Moore appeared in Newbern Municipal Court on November 6 and was issued a $2,000 bond by Judge Jason Creasy.
