Jackson Christian Head Softball Coach Jennifer Wheeler Named Female Coach of the Year by TSSAA
JACKSON, Tenn. (Nov. 8, 2023) – Jackson Christian School, a private, Christian-based college preparatory school located in Jackson, Tenn., is pleased to announce head middle and high school coach Jennifer Wheeler as the 2022-2023 District 7 Female Coach of the Year by TSSAA in today’s meeting, Nov. 8, 2023. The award is given in recognition of the ideals of ethics and integrity in the teaching and promotion of citizenship and sportsmanship. Wheeler is in her 11th year of coaching at Jackson Christian and has led the Lady Eagles to four state tournament appearances. Six of her athletes have signed to play collegiate softball upon graduation from Jackson Christian.
“Coach Wheeler has been a tremendous asset to our school and our softball program for over a decade,” said Athletic Director Darby Palmer. “She leads and builds our players on the field but also in their lives. They leave her field with much more than a winning record.”
Female coach of the year is determined by the citizenship/sportsmanship committee in each athletic district and by the state selection committee. The awards are named the A.F. Bridges Award in honor of the TSSAA’s first executive secretary.
