Class teaches West Tennesseans to be storm spotters
BENTON COUNTY, Tenn. – Several West Tennesseans with an interest in weather were given the tools to do just that.
A free Skywarn Spotter training class was held in Camden Monday.
Those in attendance learned the basics of storm spotting, from the general structure and movement of severe storms to identifying important storm features and safety concerns.
Storm spotters play a critical role in helping emergency management officials to issue warnings and save lives by providing a link between radar indications and what’s happening on the ground.
“They are tremendous help. You just can’t believe the stress that’s been taken off of me just cause I know I’ve got somebody that’s gonna call me,” said Richard Kee, the Emergency Management Director for Benton County.
If you would like to complete the two hour class for yourself, another class will be held in Huntingdon on November 28 at the Carroll County EMA building.
