1 person dead following attempted burglary
The following is information provided to WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News by the Jackson Police Department:
“Update: At approximately 1:46 pm., Officers responded to a call of a subject trying to gain entry into a residence in the 300 block of Ridgdale Drive. Officers observed the suspect vehicle of the Attempted Burglary leaving the area at a high rate of speed and was last seen northbound on Campbell Street. As officers attempted to catch up to the burglary suspect vehicle they found the vehicle crashed into another vehicle traveling southbound on Campbell Street just south of the Interstate. Passengers from that vehicle were injured and transported to the ER. The driver of the attempted burglary suspect vehicle was found deceased despite life-saving measures provided by first responders. This is an ongoing investigation and further information will later be released.”
JACKSON, Tenn. – One person is dead following an attempted burglary in Jackson.
According to the Jackson Police Department, around 1:46 p.m. officers were sent to the 300 block of Ridgedale over a person trying to enter the home.
The department says that officers saw the burglary suspect’s vehicle leaving the area at a high speed, and was last seen going north along Campbell Street.
Officers caught up and found that the suspect’s vehicle and another vehicle that was traveling south along Campbell had crashed just south of Interstate 40.
The passengers of the southbound vehicle were injured and taken to the hospital, JPD says.
Jackson police say that the driver of the attempted burglary suspect vehicle was found dead despite life-saving measures provided by first responders.
JPD officials say the incident was initially called in as a home invasion, expecting hostages. JPD says there were no hostages and the house was cleared without incident.
Jackson police say this is an on-going investigation and that further information will be released.
