Senate candidate visits the Hub City

JACKSON, Tenn.—A candidate running for U.S. Senate made her first appearance in Jackson today.

Gloria Johnson stopped by Baker Brothers BBQ to have a meet and greet with the public.

Johnson stated that it’s time to shift power back to where it belongs, with working and middle class families.

One of the main focal points that Johnson hit on was how important it is to keep community schools progressing rather than going backwards.

Johnson believes that community schools address more needs than private schools, and she intends to push to make sure that they have what they need.

“Community schools, that is the solution to our schools because what communities do is provide those wrap around services. It’s kids, when they don’t have the resources they need, that’s when they struggle,” Johnson said.

Johnson plans to continue to push for special needs children as well, so that they will have the opportunity to grow and excel just like the kids they see.
