USJ’s Holiday Mart continues in the Hub City

JACKSON, Tenn.—USJ hosts their annual Christmas market for families of the Hub City to enjoy.

University of Jackson school had their third day of the Holiday Mart.

Shoppers from all over West Tennessee were invited to do some holiday shopping.

This Holiday Mart is one of the largest fundraisers for the school.

“Everything we raise goes back to the teachers and the administration, so that we can help get them the things they may need in the classroom, for the athletics, mainly all for the children,” said Molly Richardson, Holiday Mart worker.

In the previous years, the money was able to help USJ student athletes with a new bus.

Money raised comes from entering the mart, buying goods from the bistro, or the marts that sold treats.

Students were able to volunteer their time in making sure they reached the goal amount.

“It feels really good and that there’s so many people here and it just feels really good,” said Liam Richardson, Holiday Mart worker.

This event was held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center with all three levels being occupied.

In the basement, guests were able to shop with vendors.

One vendor was a mom from the school that sold freeze dried candies of many flavors.

“We are so happy and pleased. Everyone here is so nice and happy and it’s just such a great event for the school and the community,” said Nikki Hight, owner at Special Angels.

On the main floor were vendors, while upstairs Santa and his helpers took care of guests.

Shoppers say that this event brings in the holiday spirit.

“I don’t know. The atmosphere honestly, the Christmas music,” said Darla Robbins, Holiday Mart shopper.

“Just gets you in the spirit of Christmas,” said Jerri Sue Maxwell, Holiday Mart shopper.

The Holiday Mart will be open Sunday from noon until 4 in the afternoon.
