Church offers free Thanksgiving meals
JACKSON, Tenn. – Monday a local church showed their appreciation to the city.

Unity Temple COGIC located on 369 Lexington Avenue hosted a free Thanksgiving dinner for the community.
Members as well as volunteers worked tirelessly, preparing meals for residents of the city.
You had the option of enjoying your hot meal in the fellowship hall or you could take it to go.
Not only were residents coming in and out of the building, but some even stated that they would return for Sunday morning service.
We spoke with Pastor Dwight Hunt who stated that it’s his job to build the community as well as do his best to save souls.

He had scripture to support that message.
“Jesus says, ‘Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel,’ and then he says in another scripture that ‘What you do to the least of these, you’ve done to me.’ So the ministry is just not inside these walls but outside these walls,” Hunt said.
Pastor Hunt also stated that this is not the first time his church has been involved with the community and that he makes sure they are represented in a positive way.
Every year the church participates in the National Night Out, the fall festival, and several other exciting events that bring awareness to the city and church.
“This week we’re doing what we call Baskets of Love, where we’re preparing to give baskets to those that are sick and shut in,” Hunt said.
Pastor Hunt also had this to say in regards to the community.
“If there is anything we can do to help to make this area a better community, we’re here to do that,” Hunt said.
Unity Temple fed at least 150 people during this event.
