‘Pedestrian death’ under investigation
UPDATE: JPD: No charges to be filed after pedestrian struck
JACKSON, Tenn. — Authorities are investigating a body found on the side of a busy Jackson highway.

According to officials on scene with the Jackson Police Department, a body was found in the 900 block of South Highland.
Officials are calling this a pedestrian death.
Traffic heading south on South Highland was blocked by police in both lanes at the intersection of South Highland and South Royal Street.
For a short portion of time, the southbound lane of South Royal was closed near the Neely House as well.
Police told our news crews the highway would reopen after the body was recovered.
The Jackson Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services were also on scene.
