Societies raising funds for service members
Four military aid societies are joining forces to raise funds for those who serve.
The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society and Air Force Aid Society, along with the Army Emergency Relief and Coast Guard Mutual Assistance, are battling it out to see which can raise the most contributions on Giving Tuesday.
Funds raised will help service members and their families with emergency relief, financial assistance and educational support.
“Really this money goes to the youngest soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines and their families out there. And a lot of them are facing incredible challenges. They’re on very modest salaries,” said Robert Ruark, President of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
Organizers say this year, Lockheed Martin has agreed to match each dollar raised up to one million dollars.
