Coach reflects on passing of former Huntingdon HS standout
HUNTINGDON, Tenn.-New details about the death of a former Huntingdon High School standout athlete, who drowned last weekend in Illinois.
Officials said Rocky Bolen, 20, drowned at One Horse Gap Lake at Shawnee National Forest, Saturday.
Deputies there said three men were swimming in the lake when one of them went under water.
Bolen’s former coaches said he was a person you wanted on your team.
“When somebody like ‘Rock’ dies, it affects your whole town. It affects all your young people and its just tragic. I mean, he came to work everyday, came to school everyday and football practice, ready to go and just was just a real hard worker,” said Eric Swenson, who coached Bolen at Huntingdon High School.
Illinois officials said the drowning appears to be accidental with no signs of foul play.
