Mr. Delmer Lynn Dunning, 85, of McKenzie, Tennessee passed away on Saturday December 2, 2023 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday December 9, 2023 at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home. Bro. Billy Hollingsworth will be officiating. Interment to follow in Carroll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Brummitt-McKenzie Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00pm-8:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am until time of services at 1:00pm.
Mr. Dunning was born on October 24, 1938 in McKenzie, Tennessee to the late Hillrey and Ramale Dunning. Following high school, Delmer enlisted with the Navy. He then went on to be a manager at Big John’s Grocery, Walmart, and Dollar General in McKenzie. He is preceded in death by a brother, Jerrell Dunning.
On October 19, 1958, Delmer married Sara Palmer. The two were married for 65 years. December 2, 2023 they departed this world, only hours apart, and entered Heaven’s Gates hand-in-hand.
He is survived in death by his daughter Kim (Hoppy) Johnsonius of McKenzie, Tennessee; four grandchildren: J.C. (Lacey) Johnsonius, Elizabeth (Zach) Price, Olivia (Keenan) Bannon, and Katy Johnsonius; eight great grandchildren: Casey, Ross, Noah, Sophie, Easton, Abby, Oliver, and Harper; one brother: Otis (Marie) Dunning, and one sister: Audean Halley.
