The Rock of Trenton honors local law enforcement with special luncheon

Screen Shot 2016-08-14 at 4.40.38 PMTRENTON, Tenn. — Sunday was a day of appreciation  for the men and women who protect and serve. A Morning of worship soon turned into an afternoon of fellowship for church members, who attend The Rock of Trenton, and their local law enforcement. This is the second time the church has hosted an appreciation luncheon.

Pastor Brian Petty said “it makes me feel good to bring that brotherhood and sisterhood together you know people behind the badge.”

Law enforcement from the Trenton police department and Gibson county sheriff’s department were there to enjoy  food and share some happy moments with those they serve.

Chief Will Sanders, of the Trenton police department said “the community has always been great to us especially about the last year in a half since you’ve had all the activities going on with law enforcement across the country.”

Some of the kids from the church made drawings, homemade cards, and blue wristbands to show their love and support. Pastor Petty said because many people don’t know what law enforcement officers experience on a daily basis it’s important to take the time out to appreciate the men and women in blue.

“Unless you’ve been there a lot of times people just don’t understand what they deal with and go through, but it’s good to be able to see them just maybe be able to relax for a little bit and have fun out in public.” Pastor Petty said.

One little girl explained why law enforcement is so important to her.

“They can protect us from any bad guy.” Isabel McNeal said.

Pastor Brian Petty, who was once a police officer in Union City, encourages everyone to pray for law enforcement officers across the world daily.
