Henderson County community mourns loss of firefighter Richard “Rick” D. Miller

PUBLIC NOTICE
Firefighter Richard “Rick” D. Miller, died of a heart attack on Friday, December 1st. Since he had answered an emergency call shortly before, his death is recognized nationally as a line-of-duty death. Firefighter Miller served as a driver for Station 1 (Westover Community) since 2021. Not only have we lost an active and dedicated firefighter who was committed to serving his community, but a personal friend because of the close ties among fellow firefighters. This is the department’s second line-of-duty death since it’s organization in 1978.
The following are funeral arrangements for Firefighter Miller along with Fire Service Participation Instructions:

August 11th, 1954 – December 1st, 2023
Richard “Rick” D. Miller passed away Friday December 1st, 2023 in Huron, TN at the age of 69. He was preceded by his parents Jacob B. Miller and Rose Ann Miller (Davis), his wife Debra M. Miller, and his sister Barbara Miller. He is survived by his brothers, Gary Miller and Dennis Miller, his sister Diana Van Cleve (Jeff), his daughters Deb Randolph Miller (Keith Morrow), Stephanie (George) Norton, and Jennifer Miller, and his grandchildren Devon Randolph, Hayden Norton, Declan Norton, Breanna Norton, and Seamus Morrow. He loved servicing his community in a firetruck with Mr. Harry. He enjoyed watching FOX News and “How It’s Made.” He loved his grandchildren deeply and will be greatly missed by everyone blessed enough to have known him.
His procession will leave from Stanfill Funeral Home & Cremation Saturday December 9th, 2023 at 2pm with his memorial service to follow at 3pm at Sand Ridge Baptist Church in Lexington, TN. His visitation will be held following his service until 7pm. Fire Departments that plan to participate in the funeral procession, are ask to stage at 113 S. Main St. Lexington across from the First Baptist Church.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, monetary memorials be sent to Henderson County’s Fire Station #1 4460 Hwy 412 W. Lexington, TN 38351.
