Sterling Awards applications open for 2024

UPDATE:

Due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday observed on Monday, January 15, the deadline for submitting nominations for the annual Jackson Area Business and Professional Women Sterling Awards has been extended to 5:00 pm on Wednesday, January 17.

The Sterling Awards 2024: 20 Most Influential Women of West Tennessee, Outstanding Woman Military Veteran Award and Sue Shelton White Award were created by Jackson Area Business and Professional Women to honor women in the West Tennessee area who have achieved a significant level of success.

General Criteria

• Nominee lives or works in West Tennessee outside Shelby County.

• Nominee is a leader in business or her profession.

• Nominee serves as a role model to other women in her profession and community.

• Nominee displays creativity and innovation and contributes these talents to the growth of her profession.

• Nominee contributes time and energy to community betterment.

The Sue Shelton White Award is given to a female attorney in West Tennessee who is a community activist and who has worked to create or change legislation to improve the lives of women and children in the state of Tennessee.

 

The Outstanding Woman Military Veteran Award honors a West Tennessee woman who has served her country with distinction and now offers her skills and commitment to hercommunity.

JACKSON, Tenn. – For the first time in three years, an uplifting award ceremony will be opened to the public. But they need your help. 

The Sterling Awards returns for another year of highlighting and awarding outstanding women in the West Tennessee area.

Nominations are open to nominate a woman that has helped other women and or children in their community. 

Twenty women will have the opportunity to be awarded in front of their friends and families for their hard work. 

Submissions are due on Monday, January 15 at noon, either by mail or e-mail. 

“But we ask people to not wait until the last minute to do it. There is a form you have to fill out, but also we need a full resume. And it’s always a good idea to have one or two letters from people who may fully explain what that person has done,” said Mary Jo Middlebrooks, a Member of the Sterling Awards Committee.
