Jackson welcomes Chris Coughlin as New Assistant Engineer

JACKSON, Tenn. – The City of Jackson is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Chris Coughlin as the new Assistant City Engineer. A proud native of Jackson, Chris brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the community to his new role.

“I am excited to welcome Chris Coughlin as the newest addition to our city’s engineering team,” said Director of Planning Growth and Development, Stan Pilant,  “Chris’s deep roots in Jackson, coupled with his extensive experience and dedication to excellence, make him a valuable asset to the City of Jackson.”

Chris’s educational journey began at JMCSS, where he laid the foundation for his future in engineering. He went on to achieve his degree in Engineering Technology from both Jackson State and Memphis State, showcasing his commitment to academic excellence. Following his academic achievements, Chris embarked on a notable career in the engineering field. His professional journey includes a six-year tenure with Northfork Southern Railways, then returning to Jackson, he joined the Jackson Energy Authority (JEA), dedicating 33 years to the organization. Throughout his tenure at JEA, Chris held various management positions, contributing significantly to the city’s infrastructure and development. In 2016, Chris transitioned to the role of Project Manager at Clark Engineering, where he successfully managed diverse projects, including the construction of a gas pipeline for Blue Oval City.

Chris Coughlin’s expertise and dedication to the field of engineering make him a valuable addition to the City of Jackson’s team. The City of Jackson looks forward to leveraging his skills to enhance infrastructure, promote safety, and contribute to the continued growth and prosperity of the community.
