GALLERY: Live nativity scene held at downtown Jackson church

JACKSON, Tenn. – Historic First Baptist Church hosted a live nativity scene Friday night.

It was filled with tons of fun for attendees, including hot chocolate, live musical performances, and a petting zoo.

But Pastor William Watson says the true purpose of the event was much bigger.

“We’re trying to present Christ or represent Christ in a new and different way as a relation to the church in this season. So that many can understand truthfully what this season is all about, which is Christ. Christ is the reason for this season,” Watson said.

Historic First Baptist Church will also be holding a Christmas morning service at 9 a.m. this year.
