According to a news release from Gibson Co. Electric Membership Company, Sunday just after 4:30 pm electric service was restored to those without power. Storms that hit the area on Saturday caused a great deal of damage and left over 4,000 without power.

Workers worked diligently to get downed power lines repaired and electric power back on for those affected.

Rita Alexander, VP of HR and Member Services of Gibson Electric Membership Corporation, said in the release “A huge thanks to our employees and their families! Thank you also to the employees of Service Electric and Cruse Powerline who assisted our crews. We are grateful to the Rutherford First Baptist Church, to Steven Tate and Tate Family Foods, to the Rutherford Fire Department and to Toot & Tell It for providing meals to our employees during service restoration. We also appreciate the assistance with traffic control provided by the Rutherford Police Department and the Gibson County Sheriff’s Department. Of course, we thank our members who have kindly supported us and graciously shown patience through a lengthy outage.”

The release also states that fiber crews are still working to get internet service restored. They are expecting to have that service restored to everyone by Monday evening.
